Collection: Flick Palmateer Art
PROFESSIONAL BIG WAVE SURFER | VISUAL ARTIST
Current number 2 surfer on the Big Wave tour, finalist on Channel 10s Survivor 2021.
Felicity has been anticipating the return of global travel and training hard this year in preparation for the upcoming big wave season in Hawaii.
"Art and surfing are my two greatest passions, and I am never sure whether I am an artist who surfs, or a surfer who creates art. Fortunately, my two passions do not struggle for supremacy and their reciprocal relationship never ceases to amaze me."
Growing up Felicity enjoyed an environment where art was a part of her everyday life; her father Warrick Palmateer is a renowned ceramic artist and her mother studied fashion design. Felicity’s nomadic lifestyle provides a source of constant inspiration and water is a recurring theme in Felicity’s work. She uses watercolours and inks to recreate the fluidity and perpetual movement of the ocean. Felicity’s affiliation with the ocean also fuels the energy inherent within her artwork and manifests bold, bright colours that flow and blend like water lapping the sand.
"I have been drawing ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil and surfing ever
since my father gave me a foamy for my fourth birthday, needless to say, art and
surfing are my two greatest passions. Skin Deep is the unification of these passions
- the ocean inspired the form, mediums, palette and lines of my art and art guided
and influenced the surfboard design and colours, the choice of locations, the
musical score and the times of day for shooting the film. The project explores the themes of freedom, self expression, self-discovery and vulnerability through the interplay of film, music and still images." ~Flick
